Demi Portion – Horizon (2024)

Il y a des morceaux qui ne se regardent pas, ils se traversent. Horizon de Demi Portion est de ceux-là : un clip qui avance au rythme du jour qui décline, comme si chaque plan avait été cueilli à cette heure suspendue où la lumière hésite encore entre l’or et la cendre. Réalisé par HTAG ART, le film épouse une géographie lagunaire — étangs, pontons rongés, barques échouées, immeubles dressés contre le couchant — et en fait le décor d’une méditation sur le mouvement et l’attache.

La silhouette en doudoune blanche traverse ce paysage comme une présence presque irréelle, tache claire posée sur des fonds de crépuscule. Elle marche, s’arrête, contemple. Le motif de l’horizon revient sans cesse : la ligne où l’eau rejoint le ciel, frontière à la fois ouverture et limite, promesse et mur. Partout l’eau, miroir immobile qui double le monde et le renverse, comme si le réel cherchait sa propre fusion avec son reflet. On songe à un univers à demi onirique, où le quotidien des cités — les bancs, les façades colorées, les groupes d’amis réunis sous les coursives — bascule par instants dans quelque chose de plus surréaliste : cette 2CV rouge et blanche perchée au sommet d’un dôme, vision incongrue digne d’un collage, point d’orgue d’une narration qui mêle le tangible et l’imaginé.

Le clip tisse deux temporalités. D’un côté la chaleur des liens : retrouvailles, accolades, sourires, un tendre tête-à-tête sous une tenture rouge, toute une communauté filmée avec affection. De l’autre la solitude du contemplatif, cette figure dressée seule sur une barque au milieu de l’étang, minuscule face à l’immensité, suspendue entre confinement et liberté. Entre les deux, le couchant orchestre tout, teintant chaque image d’un rouge profond qui semble dicter le destin du personnage.

Les dernières secondes referment le récit sur une 2CV roulant vers la ligne d’horizon, silhouette assise sur le toit, avant que tout ne s’efface dans le calme plat d’un plan d’eau au crépuscule. Le morceau et l’image se confondent alors en une même respiration : celle d’un homme qui regarde au loin, sans qu’on sache s’il cherche un départ ou un retour. Horizon est ce point de fuite — toujours visé, jamais atteint.

Some tracks are not meant to be watched, but walked through. Demi Portion’s Horizon is one of them: a video that moves to the rhythm of the fading day, as though each shot had been gathered at that suspended hour when the light still hesitates between gold and ash. Directed by HTAG ART, the film embraces a lagoon geography — ponds, weathered pontoons, beached boats, apartment blocks rising against the sunset — and turns it into the backdrop for a meditation on movement and belonging.

The figure in the white down jacket crosses this landscape like an almost unreal presence, a pale mark set against twilit backgrounds. He walks, stops, contemplates. The motif of the horizon returns again and again: the line where water meets sky, a border that is at once opening and limit, promise and wall. Water is everywhere, a still mirror that doubles the world and overturns it, as if reality were seeking its own fusion with its reflection. One thinks of a half-oneiric universe, where the everyday life of the housing estates — the benches, the colorful facades, the groups of friends gathered beneath the walkways — tips at moments into something more surreal: that red-and-white 2CV perched atop a dome, an incongruous vision worthy of a collage, the climax of a narration blending the tangible and the imagined.

The video weaves two temporalities. On one side, the warmth of bonds: reunions, embraces, smiles, a tender face-to-face beneath a red hanging, a whole community filmed with affection. On the other, the solitude of the contemplative, that figure standing alone on a boat in the middle of the pond, tiny before the immensity, suspended between confinement and freedom. Between the two, the sunset orchestrates everything, tinting each image with a deep red that seems to dictate the character’s destiny.

The final seconds close the story on a 2CV rolling toward the horizon line, a silhouette seated on its roof, before everything dissolves into the flat calm of a stretch of water at dusk. The track and the image then merge into a single breath: that of a man gazing into the distance, without our knowing whether he seeks a departure or a return. Horizon is that vanishing point — always aimed at, never reached.
